Intervention area

Grosseto Province encompassess several Natura 2000 sites and protected areas. Among those is worth citing two Regional Parks, Maremma and Amiata where hybrids have been observed. In the same area, the breeding of sheep and goats is a relevant economic activity and hybrids and stray dogs may have a serious negative impact on it.

The project will intervene in the following pilot areas:
Regional Park of Amiata Mountain. This is a mountainous and hilly region encompassing about 150.000 ha, with oak and beech forests and extensive areas agro pastural activities. Here the project aims at trapping hybrids and stray dogs.
Maremma Regional Park. This is a flat-hilly terrain encompassing about 9.800 ha cointaining scrubs, pinux forests, marshes, dunes, pastures and cultivated lands. Here the project aims at trapping hybrids and stray dogs.
Maremma Wildlife Rescue Center (CRASM). Located in Semproniano, close to the two regional parks, will host the captured animals.
